## Community Highlight: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

Striving to be a strong community partner, we partner with a different community organization each month through our Quotes for a Cause program. Our agency donates $5 per new business quote, regardless of whether or not the policy is actually purchased! We would like to expand their reach and give each month's organization some space to share their story!

For October Quotes for a Cause, we are working alongside the [American Foundation for Suicide Prevention](https://afsp.donordrive.com/). Each year, suicide claims more lives than war, murder, and natural disasters combined. Yet suicide prevention doesn't receive anywhere near the funding as other leading causes of death.

The agency participated in the Out of the Darkness Community Walk in September to show support for AFSP. Funds raised from the walk allow the organization to fund research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss. Funds from the last two annual walks have been used to sponsor the Crisis Intervention Training program, fund Mental Health First Aid courses and bring suicide prevention programs to area schools. We were proud to sponsor the walk and walk as a team!
