## Celebrating 15 Years of Hope and Healing with Small Talk Children’s Advocacy Center

This past Friday, Rathbun Insurance was proud to sponsor and attend the 13th Annual Auction for Advocacy, celebrating 15 years of [Small Talk Children’s Advocacy Center](https://smalltalkcac.org/) and its incredible impact on children and families throughout Mid-Michigan.

Small Talk Children’s Advocacy Center provides a safe and supportive environment where children receive coordinated services during child sexual abuse investigations. Serving families in Ingham and Eaton counties, Small Talk is dedicated to providing hope, healing, and justice for children and families impacted by abuse.

Beyond its work during child abuse investigations, Small Talk provides no-cost therapy services for children addressing the impact of trauma, services for children displaying problematic sexual behavior, adult prevention education, and a vibrant internship program.

The statistics surrounding child sexual abuse demonstrate just how important this work is:

- 1 in 10 children will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday.
- 91% of victims know their abuser.
- 1 in 7 youth internet users have received unwanted sexual solicitations.

These statistics are difficult to read, but awareness and education are important parts of prevention. They also highlight the critical role organizations like Small Talk play in creating safe spaces where children can be heard, supported, and connected with the services they need.

Small Talk Children’s Advocacy Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization fully accredited by the National Children’s Alliance. For 15 years, its team has served Mid-Michigan children and families during some of their most difficult moments while helping them move toward hope and healing.

At Rathbun Insurance, our vision is simple: Being There Matters Most. Supporting organizations like Small Talk is one of the ways we live that vision beyond insurance. We believe being part of a community means showing up for the people and organizations working every day to make Greater Lansing and Mid-Michigan stronger and safer.
