It means investing in our community, sharing opportunities, and helping the next generation discover career paths they may not have considered. Last week, we were excited to return to the [Lansing School District’s Business and Risk Management classroom](https://www.lansingschools.net/academic-choices/career-and-technical-education/) for another opportunity to connect with students and introduce them to the world of insurance. This year, Rathbun Insurance CEO Ben Rathbun and Personal Lines Account Manager Allegra McElfresh led the presentation, sharing their experiences, discussing the many career opportunities available within the insurance industry, and helping students understand how insurance plays an important role in protecting individuals, businesses, and communities. But this year's presentation had an especially meaningful connection to the students sitting in the classroom! Over the summer, Rathbun Insurance welcomed Rayon Sanders, a recent graduate of Lansing Eastern High School, as part of our summer internship program. One of Rayon's signature projects was revamping our high school career presentation, bringing a fresh perspective to how we introduce students to the insurance industry. That meant the students attending last week's presentation were seeing work created by one of their former classmates, now being used by a local business as part of its ongoing community outreach. How cool is that? It's one thing to talk to students about career opportunities. It's another to show them a real example of someone who recently sat in their shoes, joined our team, contributed meaningful work, and left a lasting impact on our organization. That's exactly why these partnerships matter. Insurance is an industry filled with opportunities that many young people may never have considered. From relationship-building and customer service to technology, marketing, financial literacy, risk analysis, and business leadership, there are countless ways to build a rewarding career while making a difference in people's lives. We believe it's important for students to hear directly from professionals, ask questions, and see how the skills they're learning in the classroom translate into the workplace. We also believe it's equally important for businesses to create opportunities for young people to contribute, learn, and see the value of their own ideas. We're grateful to the Lansing School District for continuing to welcome us into the classroom and for the work its educators do every day to prepare students for their futures. A special thank-you to Ben and Allegra for representing our team and to Rayon for helping us make this year's presentation even more meaningful. We hope other local businesses will consider getting involved with career and technical education programs, welcoming student interns, and sharing their own professional experiences. These connections can open doors, build confidence, and create opportunities that extend well beyond the classroom. At Rathbun Insurance, we're proud to be part of that process. And when a student's work comes full circle, from the classroom to our workplace and right back into the classroom, it's a pretty great reminder of why we keep showing up. _Being There Matters Most._ ## Insurance Proposal Give us some info and we'll help you find the best coverage options.
