Since September 2015, The Rathbun Agency has selected a different nonprofit each month as part of our Quotes for a Cause giving campaign. This initiative allows us to partner with incredible local organizations that are making a positive impact right here in our community. At the end of the month, we proudly present them with a check for $1,500 to support their mission.
For July, we are thrilled to support Casa de Rosado Galeria & Cultural Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that showcases and preserves Michigan’s Chicanx, Indigenx, and Latinx culture. Located in Lansing, Casa de Rosado is both a gallery and a cultural center—a vibrant space that honors heritage through the arts, education, and community connection.
Casa de Rosado’s mission is to create cultural and artistic programs that foster discussion, ignite action, and ensure the preservation and development of the finest practices in Chicanx, Indigenx, and Latinx arts and crafts. Their work is deeply rooted in cultural memory, storytelling, and creativity.
In 2023 alone, Casa de Rosado served more than 1,500 students across Michigan, with an additional 500 still on a waiting list. Funds from our Quotes for a Cause campaign will directly support over 150 students through the center’s rich educational programming, including:
Classroom visits and cultural art workshops in Title 1 schools during Hispanic Heritage Month, focused on connecting primarily Hispanic and Black students with their roots through hands-on activities like sugar skull decorating.
Weekend workshops at the Casa de Rosado Cultural Center, offering community members of all ages the chance to explore cultural traditions through art-making and storytelling, especially surrounding Día de Los Muertos.
A community gathering at the Michigan History Center, where classrooms, families, and organizations will build ofrendas (altars) in remembrance of loved ones and participate in free, traditional sugar skull decorating.
