COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

At Rathbun Insurance, Being There Matters Most—not just for our clients, but for the communities where we live, work, and gather. Since our founding in 1956, community involvement has been at the heart of who we are. For nearly seven decades, our owners and employees have proudly donated thousands of hours and resources to support the greater Lansing community, showing up wherever connection, care, and support are needed.

You’ll often find the Rathbun team out in the community—attending local festivals, supporting neighborhood events, cheering on youth programs, and partnering with organizations that strengthen our region. For us, community giving is not simply a charitable act; it is an integral part of our mission, culture, and goals.

This commitment is reflected in our Quotes for a Cause campaign, which has been running since September 2015. Through this initiative, we select a different nonprofit organization each month and donate $1,500 to support their work. In addition, the agency allocates funds each budget year to further invest in community partnerships and causes that matter most.

We believe investing in our community is not only the right thing to do—it’s how we build trust, deepen relationships, and create lasting impact. By working alongside our employees and community partners, we strive to make a meaningful difference and continue showing up for Lansing in ways that truly matter.

Community involvement by the numbers:

  • Rathbun Insurance contributed more than $57,000 in community support in 2025.
  • Through our partnership with Auto-Owners Insurance and the use of co-op dollars, we were able to invest an additional $14,000 in 2025 into the community.
    • Combined, Rathbun Insurance and our carrier partnerships invested more than $73,000 into the community in 2025.
  • In 2025, our team proudly hosted community booths at Cristo Rey Fiesta, ScrapFest, Lansing Pride, Juneteenth, Hispanic Heritage Weekend, and the monthly Bread Basket Food Pantry at Allen Neighborhood Center—celebrating and showing up for these incredible community events.
  • We support over 20 charities annually in our local communities 
  • 100% of our employees volunteer through our employee volunteer program spending over 120 hours volunteering in our local communities in 2024
  • 5 employees currently serve on nonprofit boards 
  • 10 employees are active members of local nonprofit organizations
  • In 2022, the company sponsored the naming rights of the Rathbun Accelerator Kitchen in honor of the late Paul Rathbun
