Community Involvement

We are committed to making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work. Our dedication to community involvement has been at the heart of Rathbun Insurance since its founding in 1956. Since then, owners and employees alike have donated thousands of community service hours and funds to the greater Lansing community.

For Rathbun Insurance, community giving is not only a charitable act but also an integral part of our mission, culture, and goals. Our commitment to community giving is reflected in our "Quotes for a Cause" campaign, which has been running since September 2015. Under this program, we select a different non-profit organization each month to support and donate $1,000 to the chosen organization at the end of the month.  In addition, the agency allocates funds for other community giving each budget year. 

We believe that investing in our communities is not only the right thing to do, but it also helps us build stronger relationships with our neighbors and customers. By working together with our employees to support community initiatives, we aim to make a meaningful and lasting impact.

Community involvement by the numbers:

  • Annually, Rathbun Insurance’s total community impact totals more than $50,000
  • We've given a total of $312,112.59 since April 2018 (through March 2024) 
  • In 2022, the company sponsored the naming rights of the Rathbun Accelerator Kitchen in honor of the late Paul Rathbun
  • We support over 20 charities annually in our local communities 
  • 100% of our employees volunteer through our employee volunteer program spending over 120 hours volunteering in our local communities in 2023
  • 4 employees currently serve on nonprofit boards  (as of March 2024)
  • 9 employees are active members of local nonprofit organizations (as of March 2024)

Request for Support

We are proud of our commitment to giving back to the communities where we live and work, and we look forward to continuing to support meaningful initiatives that align with our values and mission. Our budget process begins in January, and we work diligently to finalize it by the end of February. If your organization is seeking support from Rathbun Insurance, please note that all community requests for the upcoming fiscal year (April-March) need to be submitted no later than the end of February. This timeline ensures that we have sufficient time to evaluate and consider all requests as part of our budgeting process.  To submit a request for support from Rathbun Insurance, please fill out the form below.
