At Rathbun Insurance, our vision statement, Being There Matters Most, comes to life through the events and causes we support. This past week, we were proud to sponsor the 2025 Shine a Light Talent Show, hosted by Mid-Michigan Recovery Services. CEO Ben Rathbun and Commercial Account Executive Cheryl Grimes were in attendance, enjoying an evening that was equal parts fun, funny, and deeply inspiring.
September was National Recovery Month, and this year’s theme — “Recovery Is Real… Restoring Every Aspect of Life” — perfectly captured the heart of the Shine a Light
event. The stage was filled with performances that highlighted not only creativity and humor, but also the incredible work being done in the recovery community. Each act served as a reminder that joy, talent, and hope thrive when recovery is supported and celebrated.
Since 1960, Mid-Michigan Recovery Services has been offering hope and help to individuals and families impacted by addiction. Now headquartered in the historic Moores River Elementary School building, their work shines brightly in the shadow of Lansing’s iconic “Wink’n, Blink’n & Nod” smoke stacks. Much like those stacks, the organization stands as a beacon in the community — a place where recovery and healing are possible.
Their holistic approach addresses the mental, physical, and social needs of individuals seeking recovery. From the Recovery Mobile Clinic that provides onsite care several times a month, to Safe Harbor Recovery Housing that offers long-term, supervised sober living in eight residential homes, Mid-Michigan Recovery Services is dedicated to restoring lives.
The Shine a Light Talent Show was more than just entertainment — it was a celebration of resilience, community, and the very real possibility of recovery. We are honored to stand alongside Mid-Michigan Recovery Services as they continue their vital work in our community.
