This past weekend, Rathbun Insurance was proud to serve as an event sponsor for the Third Annual Sneaker Gala, hosted by All of the Above Hip Hop Academy (AOTA). CEO Ben Rathbun and Personal Lines Account Manager Kai Brewer represented the agency at this incredible celebration of art, culture, and community.
The evening featured dance and music showcases performed by AOTA students and teachers, alongside auctions of one-of-a-kind custom sneakers—all to benefit Lansing youth. Guests also enjoyed a light meal and refreshments while experiencing the talent and energy that make AOTA such a special part of our community.
Our sponsorship helps sustain AOTA’s Hip Hop arts programming for local youth. AOTA is a nonprofit organization of artists, educators, and advocates who mentor young people, support artistic expression, and serve communities as a hip-hop cultural resource dedicated to youth development.
Beyond this one evening, AOTA’s impact extends year-round. Their programs include:
-
The Cook Up at Eastern: An afterschool opportunity for students interested in beat making, rhyme writing, graffiti art, breaking, or DJ’ing to develop their skills, connect with peers, and learn more about Hip Hop history and culture.
-
AOTA Youth Organization (AYO): A mentoring program launched in 2022 that helps young adults navigate their transition into adulthood, offering guidance as they explore academic, artistic, and personal goals.
-
R.A.P: A partnership with K–12 teachers that integrates Hip Hop education into core curriculum areas, bringing creativity and cultural relevance to classrooms.
We’re inspired by the work AOTA is doing to empower youth through art, mentorship, and community connection. Being There Matters Most, and we’re honored to support an organization that lives that message every day.
