$70 for 70: Staff Spotlight — Kai Brewer Supports OurSpace Foundation

As part of our $70 for 70 Campaign, each member of the Rathbun Insurance team is selecting a nonprofit that reflects their values and passions. Through this initiative, we are celebrating 70 years of Being There Matters Most by investing directly into the organizations strengthening our community every day.

This week, we’re proud to highlight Kai Brewer, who chose to direct their $70 donation to the OurSpace Foundation.

When asked what inspired their choice, Kai shared:

“I really admire how they make Lansing’s corridors fun, engaging, and educational by turning community spaces into classrooms and highlighting local art and artists. Supporting The OurSpace Foundation is a meaningful way to give back, celebrate local culture, and help create spaces where people can learn, connect, and thrive.”

OurSpace Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to activating Lansing’s corridors as premier cultural, wellness, and tourism destinations. Through community-centered education, health and wellness programming, and large-scale cultural events, OurSpace creates year-round experiences that strengthen community, celebrate diversity, and drive inclusive economic growth.

Their work transforms local venues into classrooms and gathering spaces, elevates local artists, supports small businesses, and cultivates entrepreneurial districts in partnership with residents, organizations, and institutions.

Rathbun Insurance was honored to support OurSpace Foundation as a sponsor in 2025, including events and initiatives such as Juneteenth, Hispanic Heritage Weekend, and the OurSpace Wellness Series. These experiences reflect exactly what we value as an agency: building connection, increasing access, celebrating culture, and creating environments where everyone belongs.

Kai’s selection is a powerful reminder that community impact happens not only through organizations, but through individuals who care deeply about where they live and who they serve. We’re grateful to Kai for lifting up OurSpace Foundation and for helping us continue the legacy of 70 years of community commitment.
