For 70 years, Rathbun Insurance has been proud to call Lansing home. As we celebrated this milestone, we knew we wanted the occasion to be about more than looking back at our history. We wanted it to reflect one of the values that continues to guide our agency today: giving back to the community that has given so much to us.
During our 70th Anniversary Celebration, Rathbun Insurance was proud to present a $20,000 donation to The Nest, a local organization providing compassionate shelter, services and support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community.
The donation was presented by Rathbun Insurance President and Partner Laura Stoken as part of the evening's program, surrounded by our employees, clients, carrier partners, community partners, friends and neighbors.
"Being There Matters Most" is more than our vision at Rathbun Insurance. It represents how we want to show up for our clients, our employees and the Greater Lansing community.
That commitment made The Nest a meaningful organization to support as part of this milestone.
The Nest's mission is simple yet profound: to provide a positive place to land, ensure no one is overlooked and empower individuals to build their own path forward. The organization provides immediate, compassionate shelter and comprehensive services while recognizing that homelessness is complex and the path forward requires much more than a bed for the night.
Located at 332 Townsend Street in Downtown Lansing, The Nest places a special emphasis on serving groups that can be underserved in traditional shelter systems, including veterans, single fathers and families with teens.
With 56 overnight beds and daytime capacity to serve up to 160 individuals at one time, The Nest provides a wide range of wraparound resources. Guests can access case management, medical visits, meals, laundry and shower facilities, mail services, a grab-and-go food pantry and more. The organization also works alongside community partners including the Secretary of State, Ingham County Health Department, McLaren Greater Lansing and others to help connect people with the resources they need to move forward.
For seven decades, this community has supported Rathbun Insurance. Generations of families have trusted us with their insurance needs, local organizations have welcomed our partnership and our neighbors have allowed us to grow alongside them. As we thought about how to mark our 70th anniversary, giving back felt like one of the most meaningful ways we could say thank you.
