Rathbun Insurance is proud to once again partner with Auto-Owners Insurance to sponsor the 4th Annual 517 Hispanic Heritage Weekend, taking place September 17–20 in Downtown Lansing.
At Rathbun Insurance, we believe strong communities are built when people come together to celebrate culture, create connections, support local businesses, and learn from one another. 517 Hispanic Heritage Weekend does exactly that, creating four days of opportunities to experience and celebrate the rich culture, traditions, contributions, and impact of the Hispanic and Latino communities in Greater Lansing.
We are grateful to Auto-Owners Insurance for joining us in supporting this important community celebration and helping make events like this possible right here in our hometown.
The weekend kicks off Thursday, September 17, with a Business Mixer & Seminar at Lansing City Hall. The evening will focus on wellness, financial empowerment, education, and community dialogue. Attendees will hear from community leaders and experts while gaining access to valuable information and resources, followed by an opportunity to network and connect over refreshments.
On Friday, September 18, the celebration moves to the Lansing Shuffle Patio for a Latin Dance Class & Community Mixer. Guests can enjoy bachata and salsa dance instruction, music from a live DJ, networking, and an evening of connection overlooking the Grand River and Downtown Lansing.
Saturday, September 19, brings the weekend’s signature event: A Taste of Hispanic Heritage Festival on Capitol Avenue and Michigan Avenue in front of the Michigan State Capitol. Downtown Lansing will come alive with more than 70 vendors and food trucks, live music, cultural performances, folklórico dancing, luchador wrestling, family activities, local businesses, art, and much more. It is a wonderful opportunity for families and community members of all ages to experience the food, music, traditions, and energy of Hispanic heritage.
The weekend concludes Sunday, September 20, with Latin Jazz Night at the Lansing Shuffle Patio. The evening will feature live Latin jazz, music, dancing, and community along the river—a perfect way to close four days of celebration.
