September is National Recovery Month, a time to celebrate the millions of people living in recovery, recognize those who support them, and highlight the organizations working every day to bring hope and healing to our communities.
Rathbun Insurance was proud to sponsor LifeBoat Recovery’s annual Recovery Recognition Night, with Rathbun President Laura Stoken attending this special evening celebrating Peer Recovery Coaches and community organizations making a difference throughout Greater Lansing.
Recovery Recognition Night shines a light on the dedication, compassion, and tireless work of those helping individuals and families navigate substance use disorder and recovery. It was an inspiring opportunity to recognize people who often walk alongside others during some of the most challenging and transformational moments of their lives.
LifeBoat Recovery’s mission is to provide peer support to all seeking recovery from substance use disorder. Its services include Peer Recovery Coaching, recovery planning, transportation, assistance obtaining vital records and insurance coverage, and connections to medical care, mental health services, inpatient and outpatient treatment, housing, medication-assisted treatment, and other important resources.
For Rathbun Insurance, our relationship with LifeBoat extends beyond Recovery Recognition Night.
LifeBoat played an important role in introducing our agency to the Recovery Friendly Workplace initiative. With their guidance and partnership, Rathbun became a Recovery Friendly Workplace in 2025.
Since then, our teams have spent many hours together through conversations, planning and training as we have worked to thoughtfully implement the initiative within our agency. Our commitment has included training our entire staff in CPR, First Aid and Narcan administration, as well as having Narcan and an AED available in our office.
Becoming a Recovery Friendly Workplace is about more than completing training. It is about helping create a workplace culture where individuals impacted by substance use disorder and recovery can be treated with dignity, compassion and respect.
As an employer and community partner, we believe workplaces can play an important role in supporting recovery. Employment provides more than a paycheck. It can provide stability, purpose, connection and an opportunity to move forward.
During Recovery Month, we are especially grateful for organizations like LifeBoat Recovery and the Peer Recovery Coaches, professionals, volunteers, families and individuals who make recovery possible every day.
Rathbun Insurance is proud to continue learning, supporting this work and helping build a community where people in recovery have opportunities to thrive.
Because being there matters most.
