Rathbun Insurance continues to celebrate its 70th anniversary by giving back to the community that has supported us for seven decades. Through our $70 for 70 campaign, we are highlighting the causes that matter most to our team members and making donations to organizations that strengthen and support our neighbors across the Greater Lansing region.
This week, we are proud to highlight Commercial Account Executive Emily Harte-Merchand, who selected EVE (End Violent Encounters) as the nonprofit she would like Rathbun Insurance to support.
EVE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides supportive services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, stalking, and abuse later in life. The organization was originally founded in 1977 as the Council Against Domestic Assault (CADA), when a group of concerned community members came together to help support family members, friends, and neighbors experiencing domestic violence. Over time, the organization grew to include Lansing’s first domestic violence shelter along with a wide range of supportive services for survivors and their children.
In recent years, the organization changed its name to EVE (End Violent Encounters) to better reflect the full scope of services they now provide to survivors. Today, EVE offers a comprehensive network of support including crisis intervention, safe shelter, medical advocacy, legal advocacy, clinical counseling programs, children’s services, and community education. Their work helps individuals and families navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives while providing pathways toward safety, healing, and independence.
Emily chose to highlight EVE because the need for these services remains significant. Statistics show that at least one in four women will experience physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. For many survivors, organizations like EVE provide the first safe place to turn when seeking help. Through their shelter, medical exams, crisis response services, and legal advocacy, EVE provides life-saving support to individuals and families right here in our community.
At Rathbun Insurance, we believe being there matters most—not only for our clients, but for the communities we call home. As we celebrate 70 years in business, the $70 for 70 campaign allows our team members to shine a light on organizations making a meaningful difference across Mid-Michigan.
