At Rathbun Insurance, Insurance Careers Month is about more than talking about the future of our industry—it’s about showing up, giving back, and opening doors for the next generation. This February, Producer Darren Bardell had the honor of continuing that commitment by participating in Insurance Community in Action – A Collaborative Day of Service.
The event was co-hosted by the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) Detroit / Michigan chapter, where Darren serves as a board member. Insurance Community in Action brought together insurance professionals from across the state for an in-person day focused on service, connection, and impact.
This meaningful day also marked Liberty Mutual’s 3rd Annual Day of Service during Black History Month, in partnership with Junior Achievement, hosted at the incredible Junior Achievement Finance Park in Detroit.
Throughout the day, volunteers worked directly with students, focusing on financial literacy and introducing them to careers in insurance. From budgeting basics to real-world money decisions, students were engaged in hands-on learning while also hearing from industry professionals about the many career paths available within the insurance industry.
For Darren—and for all of us at Rathbun—this work reflects the heart of what we believe. The insurance community is at its best when it comes together to educate, mentor, and invest in future talent. Events like Insurance Community in Action show students that insurance is not only a stable and rewarding career, but one rooted in service, teamwork, and opportunity.
