During Insurance Careers Month, we were proud to support three members of our team in continuing their professional education at the 2026 Big I Michigan Convention & Trade Show: Built to Last.
Cheryl Grimes and Paige Miller, Commercial Account Executives, along with Kim Evans, Account Manager, participated in a focused, full-day experience designed specifically for customer service representatives and service teams. Investing in ongoing development is part of how we ensure we remain strong, knowledgeable, and resilient for our clients — because at Rathbun Insurance, Being There Matters Most.
Throughout the day, sessions centered on strengthening communication, elevating client relationships, and building long-term agency sustainability. Attendees explored advanced listening skills and emotionally intelligent communication techniques designed to help agents better understand client needs — including what may not be said directly. They also learned how to turn routine client calls into strategic opportunities that strengthen retention, deepen trust, and support thoughtful growth.
Additional coursework addressed maintaining professionalism and composure in high-pressure service environments, emphasizing workflow efficiency, E&O awareness, and team synergy. Technology adoption was another key focus, with practical guidance on selecting and implementing tools that enhance productivity without overcomplicating day-to-day operations.
The overall theme of the convention — Built to Last — reinforced the importance of resilience, intentional communication, and continuous improvement. After a full day of learning and collaboration, Cheryl, Paige, and Kim wrapped up the experience with dinner together before heading home, reflecting on takeaways and how they can continue strengthening the service experience we provide.
