Rathbun Insurance staff had a wonderful time at the Waverly Robotics Parents Night Out. We were truly honored to serve as the presenting sponsor and to share a few remarks with students, families, mentors, and staff.
During Insurance Careers Month, this event was yet another meaningful way we aim to support students in our region as they pursue futures in the business world and beyond.
We have attended and supported Waverly Robotics for the past three years, and every single time we walk away impressed. The talent, discipline, and teamwork demonstrated by these students is remarkable. Behind them stands an equally impressive group of educators, mentors, and families who make this program possible.
Supporting youth — especially in STEM — is incredibly important to us. Programs like robotics teach far more than technical skills. Students develop teamwork, problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and resilience. Those qualities don’t just build great engineers — they build strong professionals in any industry.
February is Insurance Careers Month, and many people are surprised to learn how naturally STEM skills transfer into the insurance industry. Today’s insurance landscape relies heavily on data analysis, technology, risk modeling, cybersecurity, automation, and systems thinking. The same mindset used to build and refine a robot — testing, failing, adjusting, and improving — mirrors how we approach protecting businesses, families, and communities.
Whether it’s analytics, IT, operations, engineering-minded problem solving, or leadership, there is absolutely a place in insurance for students like those we met at Waverly Robotics.
For Rathbun, this is never just about sponsorship. It’s about showing up.
