The Lansing SEED Academy, launched by the Lansing Economic Development Corporation in partnership with Grow America, is a first-of-its-kind program designed to build capacity for emerging developers right here in our community.
As Lansing’s real estate development market continues to grow, this innovative program is focused on enhancing developers’ ability to undertake impactful projects, increasing competitiveness in the local market, and building long-term sustainability for development professionals.
Graduates of the program receive comprehensive training in essential real estate development topics, including the full development process, development finance, financial feasibility analysis, project proformas, loan package preparation, and navigating projects from concept to completion. Participants leave empowered with the tools and knowledge necessary to bring meaningful projects to life across our region.
Ben and Marcy had the opportunity to present on risk management for developers — a critical but sometimes overlooked piece of the development puzzle.
From builder’s risk and general liability to professional liability, contractual risk transfer, and long-term asset protection, understanding how to properly structure insurance coverage can protect project financing, safeguard investors and stakeholders, reduce costly delays, and support long-term project viability.
