All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

Come on out to 517 Day!

What: A family-friendly community-building event hosted by Lansing Made and Rivertown Adventures, with financial support from Rathbun Insurance, Elderly Instruments, Women's Center of Greater Lansing, Land Visions Lawn and Landscape and Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau.

When: 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018

Where: Lansing City Market, 325 City Market Drive, Lansing

The first-ever Lansing Made 517 Day will feature food vendors, musicians, artist, interactive exhibits, informational booths, cool cars … and maybe a superhero or two. Then, at 5:17 p.m., we plan to take a community picture featuring all attendees as well as local legislative, business and cultural leaders.

Attendees are encouraged to walk, pedal or paddle their way to the Lansing City Market, where the event will be held. To help out, River Town Adventures will offer kayak rides from Cherry Hill Park, just south of downtown, and JoyRide Pedal Tours will offer pedal rides for up to fifteen people at a time from Lansing Brewing Company & R.E. Olds Museum parking lots.

Musical performers include singer songwriter Cindy McElroy; classic rock song master Mark Grinnell and Big Will and friends. Performance artist Gary Vaughn, under the name Dance Central, will also provide entertainment. Local artists will be showcasing their wares, with some actually working on pieces at the event. Food vendors will feature burgers, pizza, locally sourced frozen drinks, coffee, smoked BBQ, cupcakes, doughnuts and paella.

Groups expected to attend include: Preuss Pets, Capital Area District Library, WKAR, Lansing Fire & Police, Historical Society of Michigan, Mother & Earth Baby Boutique, Arts Council of Greater Lansing, Lansing United, JiveOnePreston, Shaheen Chevrolet, Helping Women Period, Lansing Derby Vixens, East Lansing Roller Derby, Impression 5, Child and Family Charities, Woldumar Nature Center, Lansing Board of Water & Light and Lansing Parks & Recreation.

We hope to see you out tomorrow afternoon to celebrate the 517 community!
