At Rathbun Insurance, we believe Being There Matters Most—and that includes being part of the art, storytelling, and community that make Lansing such a vibrant place to live and work. That’s why we’re thrilled to be one of the businesses supporting Lansing Shaped, a powerful, city-wide mural and storytelling project launching this summer!
Local artist Muralmatics founder Dustin Hunt painted three large-scale portrait murals across Lansing, each representing one family across three generations. These murals now grace three repurposed school buildings located in Lansing’s North, West, and South sides—each a visual reminder of our city’s history, diversity, and resilience.
Next to each mural, you’ll find a QR code that links to videos of the featured family members sharing how Lansing has shaped their lives. It’s an invitation to connect with the people behind the portraits—and soon, to share your own voice too.
Starting June 14, Lansing Shaped opens to the public in a whole new way: when you visit a mural and scan the code, you’ll receive instructions on how to record and upload your own story. Your video will be added to a growing online gallery, where community members from all walks of life can reflect on what Lansing means to them.
To help you explore, official Lansing Shaped maps, stickers, and buttons will be available at Rathbun Insurance beginning TODAY—along with several other awesome community hubs across the city:
